Twitter-Owned Mobile App Vine Unveils Private Messaging

Everyone finds those short videos, that capture six seconds of your time, adorable. Some content is personal, and some is more social, but they all make us giggle for at least six seconds. Now, there is a way (read: update) “Vines” can become personal.

In its blog, Vine has introduced Vine Messaging, a feature that makes Vines personal, taking this communication to a different level. Previously, Vine users could only leave comments on other videos.

Vine Messaging allows the sending of Vine videos and text messages to anyone – to both friends who are in your address book, but also to people who are not. For the latter, you can send files and communications via SMS or email. If you want to create a Vine Message (VM), you select the “Messages” option in the menu, record your video, and select “Send.”

Each message can go to one person only. So, if you want to send a Vine video to five people, for instance, you'll have to send the video message to each person separately, as opposed to sending it in a group chat.

Your Vine messages inbox is divided into messages you receive from friends, and from others (people who are not on Vine). The “Settings” menu offers you a turn-off option for the “Other” category if you don't want to get messages from people you don't know.

Vine's latest update also includes different colours, so that you customize and personalize your Vine profile. Visit the settings menu again to choose your perfect profile colour.

To send your first Vine message, download the last Vine version from Google Play, and App Store.
