You've all seen the terrifying, but mesmerizing, design of the kill-machine, “Alien,” in the eponymous film franchise. To a broad artistic audience, the Swiss surrealist H.R Giger will be much missed, as Giger passed away yesterday, at 74, from fatal injuries sustained in a fall. Take a look at Giger's legacy:
This surrealist artist created a beautiful blend of men and machines in a weird hybrid form, and his works of art often evoke mixed emotions. Take a look at his paintings and sculptures:
The HR Giger museum is located in the magnificent medieval town of Gruyeres, in the Swiss Alps. The Giger Museum exhibits paintings, film and furniture designs, and sculptures, that date from the early 1960s to today.
Inspired by the Fantastic Realism artist, Gruyeres has dedicated a skeletally-structured venue to Giger. Look at the panoramic photo of the Alien-inspired bar.
Alexander McQueen has designed seemingly uncomfortable but quite anatomically-interesting Alien shoes. The sci-fi-inspired heels come in colours like blue and white, but nothing beats the classic metallic version of this Alien footwear.
Gig Goldstein designed this Alien-themed guitar.
Ready to jump on the wild rock? Why not do it with an HR Giger's Alien-inspired wedding cake. The terrifying creation is made by Jet City Cakes.
Roar along your local streets with the Alien motorcycle made entirely out of scrap metal.
Peter "Rat D" Davidson created this pez container that boasts an amazing jaw job. Unfortunately, it was a one-time project, so it can't be purchased anymore.
Giger fans have expressed their love for the artist's work by having a permanent reminder inscribed on their bodies.
