The Most Practical Gadgets To Take On The Road

If you spend much of your working life travelling, the right gadgets can make things a lot more straightforward.

In this article, we present a list of five gadgets that you should consider carrying while on the move.

A Smartphone

Carrying a smartphone around is practically a “given” for a modern businessperson, hence its position at the top of this list.

Modern smartphones can do everything from keeping you in touch with your emails to providing you with entertainment during long journeys and travel delays. Don’t leave home without one.

A GPS system

Yes, most smartphones now include GPS and satellite navigation, but (arguably) none do the job as well as a dedicated device. Using GPS on a phone also drains the battery alarmingly quickly.

Even if you have an excellent sense of direction, a GPS device is an essential for a business traveller. If nothing else, it will minimize the chances of you arriving late for meetings.

A baggage scale

If you travel by air (or even by high-speed train in some countries), you will be subject to baggage weight restrictions.

A handheld baggage scale is an essential gadget for air travel. Usually these hook on to the handle of your suitcase. You lift it, and instantly know the weight. Not only do these save you excess baggage charges, they help you to maximize your allowances if there are bargains you wish to take home.

Extra battery power

A smartphone is little use without charge, and sadly no manufacturer has yet managed to provide truly excellent battery life. A supplementary battery pack that allows you to charge your device from anywhere is a great buy for a business traveller.

Earphones

In the days of Walkmans (and iPods) it was instinctive to carry earphones to listen to music. Now that most people keep music on their phones, it’s easy to forget to carry them. Invest in some good earphones, and you can block out the world on those more stressful days.
