Google Now has finally hit Google Chrome desktops. As of today, it has gone mainstream on all Mac and Windows computers that have installed Google Chrome browsers, while previously it was available to Chrome Beta browsers only.
Google Now is a helpful assistant app designed to offer its users relevant information, answer questions, and make recommendations. The data provided is presented in the form of cards, which are made to cater to the specific needs of the user.
The cards feature content such as weather, sports scores, daily traffic updates, and even event reminders.
New cards, features and notifications are continually being included to improve the user's experience. Cards are regularly updated, based on previous search habits and location data collected from your smartphone.
Start-up is simple and easy. The settings are identical to those found on your Android and iOS device. Follow these steps to Google Now:
Log into Chrome desktop account from your Mac or Windows computer
Use the same Google Now details from your existing smartphone account
You are now set to go. Data from your mobile device will be automatically synced with your computer, enabling notifications and cards to reach your computer.
Google has already begun sending pop-ups to its users, and will continue to do so throughout the upcoming weeks.
Even though your desktop and smartphone are synced, they have different location settings. Managing both devices can be done independently, to ensure card content is valid and up-to-date. Furthermore, Google Now can be turned on and off, at your convenience.
Google Now, the new personal assistant aimed to cater to your needs, will ease all your tasks, by always being one step ahead.
