How one Jersey Restaurant Turned to Foursquare to Advertise and Get More Customers

Foursquare app was created to help you find a great place to visit, be it for food, nightlife or music. Swarm app, a separate app for check-ins, was also announced a few days ago.

The advertising avenues Jersey’s White Star Bar first tried were Facebook and Yelp. Yet, both proved costly: “It’s tough to tell if they work. You don’t even know if customers were actually here,” said the owner, Mat Kopec.

 

With Foursquare you can get measurable results from your ad. You can easily target nearby customers by highlighting your restaurant's specialties. If you have a wide selection of beers and cocktails, for example, you can show this to advantage. “Foursquare is a great medium for letting people know what’s great nearby,” said Kopec. “When people search for you, they’re probably going to go to you.”

With the Foursquare ad, Mat Kopec is looking at a 66.7 % returned investments image. “It was impossible to measure before on Facebook,” Kopec said, but “with Foursquare, you can actually correlate the ad to people showing up and spending money.”
