The Dropbox family has a new member. Dropbox has introduced Carousel, a gallery app for viewing and storing all of your photos and videos, in a chronological manner. Carousel allows you and all of your friends to share images between your Dropbox folders. This wondrous app syncs all your Dropbox accounts and creates one consolidated list of every photo you've ever uploaded to Dropbox.
Carousel provides great organization for your photos by date, where the most recent events' photos show up first, at the top, while at the bottom of the app there is a horizontal panel you can swipe through to jump between months or years of images. Navigation between the many images is very smooth and easy, and loading takes no time at all, even if you're not connected to the Internet.
Dropbox also provides sharing options and private messaging with Carousel. Namely, photos can be shared with friends via email or a private text message. However, if some friends don't have Carousel, they can only preview the image, and then will be asked to download the app.
Collecting memories isn’t just a heartwarming idea Dropbox is pushing with Carousel. In fact, there’s some truth to it. If you have years of images of rafting trips, babies’ birthdays and anniversaries, the Carousel app will help you keep them ordered among your many, many folders.
Right now, in its free plan, Dropbox offers 2 GB free storage, which can be extended to 16 GB, by inviting friends or engaging in some promotions.
Since this is the first version of Carousel, more features and touches are expected in the future, so that Dropbox users can receive the full photo experience from this cloud storage provider. Carousel is available in the AppStore and Google Play.
