Beginner's Guide To Pinterest

Pinterest is the social network for anyone who enjoys great visuals. Here’s how to get started sharing your content on the fourth most popular social platform.

A Pin

First things first: The thing Pinterest gets its name from is…the pin! A pin is a picture that you want to keep or share. You can pin most images from anywhere on the Internet. But where do they go?

Your Boards

Anytime you pin an item it will be stored on one of your “boards.” Boards are like filing books for each of your separate interests. You can create as many boards as you want. Other people can see these boards, if you want, and follow them as well.

Home Feed

You can see collections of pictures by other people and follow the pictures they ‘pin’ to their boards. These pictures come up in your Home Feed.

Interaction Options

You can interact with the pictures that other people have posted in three different ways:

1. Re-pin it. Clicking on the little pins will allow you to re-pin that picture to your own board. This means that it is saved in your collections and also that your followers will see the picture as well.

2. Heart it. Clicking on the little heart is similar to clicking a “Like” button or “+1” button. It lets the poster know that you liked the picture.

3. Comment. At the bottom of the comments will be a blank box waiting for your own comment. Interact with your favourite ‘pinners’ by leaving them a note!
