Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference 2014 – What To Expect

Apple continually delivers technological enlightenment by developing apps that improve our lives. One thousand Apple engineers and five thousand developers will meet at the 2014 Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco this week to present the codes they have written that will change the world. Here’s what to expect from the conference, which is kicking off later today:

iOS 8

Rumours about the iOS 8 have been circulating the web for months, but the bottom line is, it will be a better version of iOS 7. Among other innovations, the new operating system is said to introduce a health and fitness focused app, Healthbook. This feature-packed app boasts sleep, weight, and hydration tracking, as well as blood pressure and heart rate monitors, all neatly organized into card categories.

Apple Maps

Apple Maps will also introduce some new features, including indoor mapping, public transport directions, and displaying only relevant information. The new app is said to increase interactivity and have a sleeker appearance.

The tech giant is expected to make a debut of an iOS 8 split-screen multitasking feature for the iPad that allows smoother interactions between apps. The user can simply drag and drop content between screens. This innovation is only a rumour, however, and it's not certain which iPad models, if any, will support the new feature.

iPhone 6

We're hoping Apple's engineers will clear the air tonight over the latest smartphone flagship, as iPhone debuts typically occur  in September or October. There have many rumours about the iPhone 6, including its 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display size, upgraded features including a retina display, faster processor, better camera, and motion sensors, as well as a strange new colour, as seen in a leaked image. The iPhone 6 is also said to include its own barometer capable of measuring temperature, humidity level, and air pressure.

iWatch

There’s also buzz about an Apple wearable that will be announced at this conference – the iWatch. The wearable market is showing continuous growth, with Samsung unveiling its Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches, Motorola and LG launching their own models, and even Google pushing its way in. Apple definitely has an iWatch ace up its sleeve.
