Apple Might Be Purchasing Beats For $3.2 Billion

The consumer electronics giant, Apple, is reportedly in talks to purchase Beats Electronics, the famous “Beats by Dr. Dre” headphones manufacturer, for an unbelievable $3.2 billion. Neither company has released comments, however, on the matter yet.

Beats Electronics was founded in 2006 by rapper Dr. Dre and music industry veteran Jimmy Iovine, and two years later they released the very popular “Beats by Dr. Dre” line of premium headphones, which are rocking ‘til this very day. Beats launched Beats Music this year, a music streaming service that merges human choice with technology to bring the best online music at the right time.

Apple has had a happy relationship with Beats so far: the “Beats by Dr. Dre” headphones have been sold in Apple's retail stores since their creation, marking 51% of sales shares in the $1 billion headphones market.

The Beats music app is currently available for both Windows and Android smartphones, and has a desktop version.

Some analysts claim that Beats in not worth the money Apple’s paid, however, due to the former company's last valuation, in September, at $1 billion.

There have been other oddly expensive purchases this year, like Facebook buying the messaging service WhatsApp for $19 billion and the virtual reality headset company Oculus for $2 billion.
