Apple has released iOS 7.1, the latest version of its most advanced mobile operating system, which packs many new improvements and features, but also fixes bugs. What to expect, you ask? Well, the 7.1 iteration of iOS brings the following changes, features, and updates to smartphones and tablets:
The 7.1 update features support for Apple's CarPlay. Apple recently launched CarPlay, the new car technology that allows iPhone users a safer and smarter drive. The built-in car iOS provides easy access to music, apps, calls and messaging.
The virtual assistant, Siri, is improved by having new native voices for British English, Australian English, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese, in both female and male speaking variants. Also, Siri allows users manual control, so when users press, hold and release the home button, Siri is “on.”
The calendar changes include a month view of events, and new displays for holidays for specific countries.
The iTunes Radio update consists of the ability to buy albums for songs which are “currently playing.” Apple also allows users to create radio stations according to users' favourite songs and artists by adding a search field.
Apple's iOS 7.1 update automatically allows a HDR technique on the iPhone 5s, for creating photographs with more contrast.
Fingerprint recognition is made better with the latest software update
A home screen crash bug that has caused some Apple iOS gadgets to simply crash and restart again is now handled with the update
iOS 7 performance on the iPhone 4 and older versions of the iPad is improved
FaceTime notifications are automatically emptied when users answer calls on other devices
