Most entrepreneurs have their hands in different businesses. Because of that, it is essential to be organized so that time spent working on those businesses is productive.
Thankfully, in this age of mobile and hand-held devices, there are apps for just about every aspect of business. From productivity to organization to handling business, there are apps that make work easier. Here are five apps that entrepreneurs rate as their favourites:
Evernote is the app that seems to do anything and everything. Along with its family of products (Skitch, Web Clipper, Evernote Clearly and others), Evernote allows users to create electronic files such as text files, images/photos, audio and voice memos and even videos and store them on a Cloud.
See a picture or article on the internet that's worth saving or remembering? It can easily be saved in Evernote by using Web Clipper and stored with a tag for easy access. The whole idea is that Evernote makes it easy to access a user’s account from any device that has the software downloaded (FREE app by the way).
Another great benefit is that users can create text documents in Evernote and send them from the device. As with every app, users can upgrade to a premium version of Evernote ($45 per year) to get more bells and whistles, but the free versions of this suite of products work perfectly.
Today’s workforce is mobile. It is not necessary to work in an office with others because everything is accessible online and with apps. This includes account and project files. Dropbox users simply save their documents on the Dropbox Cloud so that they always have access to them and they can share them with co-workers.
This is especially helpful when working on group projects where tons of information needs to be shared. With each file, users can determine with whom they share it. Also, with Dropbox, users can do away with thumb drives and external hard drives that are used as back-up devices. Prices vary depending on the amount of storage users need, but Dropbox is free for up to 2GB of storage.
TripIt is a great app for entrepreneurs who travel. It is a travel planner that consolidates everything, including reservations, email confirmations, boarding passes, itineraries and other items related to travel so that users have it at their fingertips and associates, clients, and family know where they are and how to get in touch.
It is easily accessed online or from a mobile device. Plus, with TripIt Pro, the upgraded plan, users get push notifications for upcoming flights as well as flight changes, cancelled flights, and alternate flights so that the schedule remains the same. Users can easily access their account and itinerary online or via mobile devices. The basic TripIt plan is free with the TripIt Pro upgrade currently costing $49/year.
This is a phenomenal app for small business owners who have employees and/or clients who receive invoices for business. Simply put, this is a “fresh” approach to accounting software that is stored on a Cloud (isn’t everything?) and easily accessed from any device that has the software.
Users (and business owners) access receivables and payables, pay from the app, manage time sheets from employees, and even look at profit/loss statements – all from a mobile device! This is ideal for those who travel or spend very little time at a desk.
This app makes signing documents a breeze. No matter where users are, legal documents, letters and anything else requiring a signature are accessible from apps like Dropbox, Google Drive, and Evernote (see why Evernote is great?).
Once downloaded, users simply sign the documents in SignEasy using their fingertip or a stylus, complete it with a logo, date, company name or other item and send it back and/or save it on the selected storage Cloud or program. This is perfect for those documents that are time sensitive or that require negotiating back and forth.
There are tons of great apps for entrepreneurs to use to better their work environment, productivity and performance. To figure out what works best, users should spend some time trying out different apps. What works well for some may not work for others. One thing for sure is that, with the right apps, entrepreneurs can do practically everything with a good mobile device or tablet.
