2014 Oscars Highlights

The 86th Academy Awards ceremony took place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles last night. There was glamour on the red carpet, ups and downs (literally!), selfies and some great acceptance speeches.

Let's see some of the 2014 Oscars winners:

  • "12 Years a Slave" won the Best Picture award, the biggest prize of the Oscars

  • Best Actor in a Leading Role was Matthew McConaughey, for "Dallas Buyers Club"

  • Best Actress in a Leading Role award went to Cate Blanchett, for "Blue Jasmine"

  • Jared Leto won the Best Supporting Actor award for the role of a transgendered person in "Dallas Buyers Club"

  • Lupita Nyong'o won the Best Supporting Actress award for “12 Years a Slave.” Nyong'o gave an impressive speech dedicated to “12 Years a Slave” director Steve McQueen, saying: "Thank you so much for putting me in this position. It is the joy of my life"

The picture features a bunch of celebrities: Angelina Jolie, Jared Leto, Julia Roberts, Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, and Lupita Nyong'o
