20 Subliminal Messages in Company Logos (Part 1)

A brand's logo reflects a company's character and style. And sometimes, a company’s designs show even more than what the it hoped for. Let's take a look at some huge brands that cleverly hide meanings, or additional images, in their famous designs.

1. FEDEX

This is too obvious, but we'll share it anyways. There is a small white arrow in the FedEx logo, between the “E” and “X.” It's such a good use of negative space, right?

2. TOBLERONE

The name of this Swiss chocolate brand is just fine, but the little mountain on the left side contains a bear in the white space. The bear represents Bern, the Swiss Canton, where Toblerone comes from.

3. THE BRONX ZOO

The designers of the Bronx Zoo logo found the perfect way not to waste white space – the giraffes' legs reveal designs of some of New York's most magnificent skyscrapers.

4. AMAZON.COM

Another famous and quite obvious logo belongs to Amazon. Of course, Amazon can deliver anything, from “a” to “z,” just like the arrow under the logo suggests.

5. CISCO

The corporate logo of the world leader in networking, Cisco, features San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge.

6. TOUR DE FRANCE

At first glance, there's nothing special about the Tour de France's logo, but if you look closely, you will see a cyclist in the “R.”

7. COCA COLA

This popular beverage contains a clever message in its logo. If you magnify the space between “o” and “l,” you will see the Danish flag. It's quite handy when you launch a campaign in Denmark, right?

8. PITTSBURGH ZOO

Look! There's a gorilla! And, there's a lion! And, it's no longer a tree representing the Pittsburgh Zoo.

9. BASKIN-ROBBINS

The home of ice cream, Baskin-Robbins, sells 31 ice cream flavours. The pink lines in the “BR” logo show that number: “31.”

10. TOSTITOS

The dipping tortilla chips by Tostitos bring joy to all Mexican food lovers. The “TIT” in the logo is, in fact, two people enjoying Mexican food at a table.
