20 Hidden Messages in Company Logos (Part 2)

11. BIG TEN CONFERENCE

The oldest Division 1 collegiate athletic conference in the United States, the Big Ten Conference, consists of 12 schools and will expand to 14 this year. Still, the current logo of Big Ten has the number “10” and the word “BIG” embedded in the same word.

12. MERCK

The logo of the pharmaceutical company, Merck, has two pills and a capsule merged in a single concept.

13. SONY VAIO

In Sony's Vaio laptop line, analog meets digital: the “VA” is an analog wave, and the “IO” stands for the binary digits 1 and 0.

14. EIGHT

The design of Eight was made by the London-based creative agency, Stylo Design. The design of the logo is quite simple, really: it's the number 8, only without certain parts of the number.

15. EIGHTY-20

This small consulting firm's logo has squares at the top, which represent a binary code for the name of the firm. In the top line, the code of the squares is 1010000 and in the bottom it’s 0010100.

16. FORMULA 1

Formula One's logo is way too obvious – there is the number 1 between the letter “F” and the red speeding lines.

17. CARREFOUR

This European retailer's logo represents a “crossroads,” which is what Carrefour stands for in French. The logo consists of two opposite arrows, with the word “C” in the white space in between the arrows.

18. NBC

The logo of NBC includes a peacock with six feathers, each representing the six different divisions of this TV network. The head of the peacock is facing towards the viewers.

19. SNOOTY PEACOCK

This jewellery store has a twofold logo: When you look at it from afar, it appears to be a woman's head, but when you look at it closely, it's a peacock.

20. FAMILIES

In this Reader’s Digest magazine's logo, the letters “ILI” are scaled, to represent a family of three.
