The internet has been flooded with leaks and alleged mockups of the iPhone 6 for the past few months. Youtube tech blogger Danny Winget uploaded the first video of a functioning iPhone 6 clone dubbed “Wico6.”
The vlogger did not reveal how he got the 4.7-inch device that seems to match all of the design leaks we've seen so far.
This is an actual smartphone with a SIM card, but the interesting part is that its not running iOS but rather a skinned version of Android.
The device specs are not something we would call cutting edge, but it is powered by a 2.4GHz quad-core processor, has 2GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. The 4.7-inch display is at a resolution of 960 x 540 with 234 ppi.
The functional clone is based on all of the leaks we’ve seen over the past several months.
While there have been numerous mockups, there isn’t any “official” evidence of the iPhone 6 or its design. It’s fascinating that companies will go so far as to build a functional clone.
"This looks exactly like the iPhone 6 dummy units that were leaked earlier this year. This is just a more complete clone of it," says Winget.
In the video, Winget compares the clone to other devices, including the Samsung Galaxy S5.
The 4.7-in display is smaller than the S5, with its massive 5.1 inch display, but on the other hand there are rumours of a second iPhone 6 with a 5.5 inch display that might just win the hearts of big screen fans.
