Xiaomi has unveiled its flagship smartphone, and it bears exceptional similarity to the iPhone. The Mi 4 is an Android phone, and the first of Xiaomi to be covered in a metal frame. The Beijing-based electronics company is a leading manufacturer of high-end smartphones at lower prices, having announced more than 26 million smartphones sold in the first half of this year.
Boasting similar looks to the iPhone, the Mi 4 packs a 5-inch display, 3 gigabytes of RAM, 16/64 gigabytes of memory, and is powered by a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. Image capturing is enabled by an 8 megapixel front camera and a 13 megapixel back camera, with a dual LED flash feature.
Xiaomi's Mi 4 will be available in China for starters, but the company hasn't disclosed when the smartphone will be available elsewhere. The device is said to support 4G, and covers all of China's carriers. If you want to purchase the iPhone look-alike, you can find the Mi 4 at a price tag of $459.99, according to the company's website.
Another ace Xiaomi has up its sleeve is a low-cost smart wearable, also unveiled today. The smartphone manufacturer announced its first wearable device, which will sell for no more and no less than $13! Lei Jun, Xiaomi's CEO, says the armband is the winning model after several unsuccessful attempts by the company to launch a wearable in the past.
What makes the Mi Band remarkable is its ability to hold its charge for a full month, as well as its IP67 water-proofness. The Band also features tracking sensors for health metrics, and users can use it as a smart alarm clock. The Mi Band also has the ability to unlock a Xiaomi smartphone, which means users don't have to key in their passwords numerous times a day.
It's quite clear that Xiaomi is betting big on the Mi Band's competitive price, hoping fitness fans will be all over it. Considering the fact that wearables are extremely popular and increasingly abundant, the Mi Band is bound to kick off sales at a rapid pace.
