If becoming a Jedi has always been your life-long wish, you'll be thrilled to hear the good news modern technology brings. Thalmic Labs have been working on a wearable that will turn your childhood (or adulthood) fantasies to life. Eventually, you can become a master with three simple finger swings, literally.
Myo is an armband that listens to your arms, fingers, hand gestures, and suddenly turns you into a Jedi, and that's not an exaggeration! With Myo, you can wirelessly control your PCs, Macs, Android, and iOS smartphones, via Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy. Myo controls all your games, videos, presentations, music, even drones, with the sole movement of your hands. Myo's story began in February, when its prototype video was released. Check it out below:
The company distributed the first batch of the Myo “alpha” design prototype to developers last December but said it would delay the launch of the wearable, as it wanted to significantly improve the device. About a month ago, Thalmic Labs unveiled the final design which boasts sleeker looks, a thinner body, and a weight of just 95 grams. Given its incredible lightness and slimness, you can wear Myo under your top and feel cozy at all times.
If you want to compare both versions, take a look at the specs of Myo's alpha and today's version:
Pre-order for both the Myo Developer Kit and the final consumer version is on. Shipping for Myo's Developer Kit starts this month, while shipping for the actual Myo units will begin in September.
