Kinect is Coming to Your PC July 15, Pre-order Available Now

PC gamers can now do a little victory dance on their desktops. From July 15, the Xbox One Kinect sensor for Windows will be available to every PC user. While the Kinect was originally paired with the Xbox One as an essential part, Microsoft soon released a Kinect-free Xbox One to the market at a discounted price. Now, Microsoft is introducing a Windows version of the Kinect.

Microsoft Store's overview of the peripheral reads: “The Kinect for Windows v2 sensor gives developers more of the precision, responsiveness and intuitive capabilities they need to develop interactive voice- and gesture-based applications for the Windows desktop and Windows Store.”

The Kinect for Windows v2 sensor doesn't come with software, and it's designed to be used with the separately licensed 2.0 Kinect for Windows software development kit.

Bob Heddle, the Director of Kinect for Windows, says that the Windows version of the Xbox One peripheral will bring new creative PC touch-free applications, and opportunities to revolutionize the computing experience.

Microsoft has listed the Kinect for Windows v2 Sensor for $199, and it is now available for pre-order in its company store. So, in a week from now, you can wave your hands in front of your PC.
