Looking for an NSA-proof Device? The Impenetrable Blackphone Hits the Market July 14

A partnership between Silent Circle and Geeksphone has done finally it: they’ve created an NSA-proof smartphone. It's all about privacy with the Blackphone. The device can encrypt text and voice messages and provide you with a virtually private network, all for $630. Pre-orders for the Blackphone have been sold out, but a new batch of orders is expected to kick off July 14.

The joint company, SGP Technologies SA, says there is huge demand for the phone due to its focus on privacy. Since the smartphone market lacks features for private communications, cloud storage, and browsing, the Blackphone is the leader in privacy-focused phones. The Blackphone has been listed on the “10 Breakthrough Technologies” of 2014 by the MIT Technology Review, and has already received two awards.

The security-enhanced operating system, PrivatOS, is what makes the Blackphone so impenetrable. Built on Android's KitKat, PrivatOS provides users with maximum protection and control over their data. All calls and messages both sent and received are encrypted, a smart wi-fi manager prevents the wireless connection history from being picked up, and all of the user's data can be controlled from any place on earth.

Users also can also control permissions of applications, browse from a distinct search provider, Disconnect Search, and access all of their files in an encrypted cloud service, SpiderOak.

CEO of SGP Technologies Toby Weir-Jones says, "We are excited to achieve this key milestone on schedule and ship a remarkable device to customers that is the result of an unprecedented combination of privacy and mobile innovations and visionaries. Blackphone's arrival puts mobile privacy directly in the hands of professionals and consumers everywhere.”
