Steam Summer Sale Begins, Wallets Empty themselves Worldwide

It’s the most conflicting time of year in every gamer’s life: the Steam summer sale-- that magical month where AAA blockbuster games go for a couple of bucks each, with daily sales putting further dents in gamers’ savings.

Valve’s Steam platform has built a reputation as the biggest and cheapest online video game retailer, and with good reason: their prices are regularly among the lowest, and their Summer Sale is a massive hit every year. This year is no different. Check out the amazing titles we got at a steal:

The Witcher II for $3.99

This is one of the best and most engrossing RPGs in recent years. The Witcher games are a direct adaptation of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy tales about Geralt of Rivia, the eponymous Witcher. Boasting eye-popping graphics and a mature, gritty storyline, the Witcher is sure to satisfy any discerning RPG gamer’s tastes.

Far Cry 3 for $7.49

Ubisoft’s Far Cry series has long been a fan favorite. The third iteration puts you in the shoes of an American tourist trapped on a tropical island, ruled by a ruthless terrorist gang. Immersive first-person combat, driving, and exploration is what sets Far Cry 3 apart from the fray, so if you have 8 bucks lying around, be sure to give it a try.

Don’t Starve for $3.74

There’s never been a better time to try out Don’t Starve. This breakaway indie hit is available here for a pittance. Beautifully hand-drawn characters, randomly generated worlds, a ton of crafting, hunting, building, farming, cooking, and exploring, all have one very simple objective. Whatever you do, don’t starve. Simple, stylish, fun, and dirt cheap.

The deals don’t end with the Summer Sale, though: Valve is also doing daily Flash sales, where games will be available at a few dollars’ price for 8 hours only. The offers change hourly, so be sure to check it out before it ends on July 30. Happy gaming!
