Apple's New iWatch Will Hit Stores in October, Reuters Reports

At Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference, held 2 weeks ago, it was rumoured that the company’s new smartwatch might be available as soon as this fall, and Reuters now reports that the iWatch will hit stores in October. According to Reuters, the smartwatch will be produced by Taiwan's Quanta Computer Inc, with mass production beginning in July. Apple aims to produce and ship up to 50 million units in the first year of production. The smartwatch is still officially unnamed but has been dubbed iWatch by default.

Reuters' sources state that the smartwatch will be slightly rectangular in shape, featuring a 2.5 inch display, a touch interface, wireless charging capabilities, and a sensor that will monitor the user's pulse. With the new watch Apple is taking a major risk as it tries to prove that it is still capable of innovating after consumer hits with the iPhone and the iPad.
