Confirmed: LG is Not Making the Next Nexus Phone. So Who Is?

Phone Arena reports that LG is not making the next Google Nexus phone.

According to LG’s Director of Communications Ken Hong, Google should have approached them by now if they wanted LG to manufacture their next handset.

Still, it doesn’t sound like Hong is too beat up about it.

“If you can develop a Google phone, that gives credibility. But money you earn is not easy, and you become too dependent on Google”, said Hong about their experience with Google.

LG has manufactured Google’s last two handsets, the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 5, which makes the move even more surprising. Although in jest, Hong still stated that Google would have contacted them by now if they were to hire LG’s services again.

“That can mean two things. Either I got ignored, or we simply won’t be making it.”

So, if LG’s out of the picture, then who’s making the Nexus 6?

Rumors abound that HTC is set to manufacture the next Nexus tablet, a fact discovered by digging through a Google bug report. The codenamed device ,“Flounder” , is almost certainly the HTC-manufactured Nexus 8, but will Google entrust HTC with their phones as well as their tablets? We’ll have to wait and see.
