eProfits Game Of The Week: No Man’s Sky
GAME OF THE WEEK

Hello, Games. Hello. Hi. What’s that you got there?

You might know Hello Games from their Daredevil-themed racer/platformer, Joe Danger. This game is nothing like Joe Danger. This game is nothing like most games, really. This game gives you the feeling you had when you sat down to watch Star Wars for the first time. This game is the goosebumps you got when Captain Picard first announced his mission “to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.” This game is No Man’s Sky, and it’s gonna knock your socks off.

We’ve always wanted to explore space. Too many of the too few space-themed video games in existence have focused on - what else? - shooting. Aside from Mass Effect (which still has a lot of shooting), violence has been the go-to mechanic in space sims because, hey, it’s a video game. In No Man’s Sky, you explore. Don’t get us wrong - there’s still plenty of shooting and starship battles, but the focus this time is on the Great Unknown.

Explore an entire planet on foot. Then, jump into your spaceship and launch yourself into space, seamlessly. There are no loading times in between. Not only that, but each world, each planet and its wildlife and vegetation in No Man’s Sky is procedurally generated, so you discover something unique each time you play. And discover is the right word, too. Bragging rights are in effect for each planet, with props going to the player that found it first. Same goes for undiscovered species of animals, dinosaurs, aliens...and whatever else is out there.

Hello Games founder Sean Murray says that “No Man’s Sky is a game without limits.” Gamers will get the chance to push those limits first on PS4, with other platforms to follow. Too bad there’s no release date yet.
