The 7 Most Addictive Browser Games

Got some time to kill? Check out our list of some of the best and most addictive games you can play right in your browser (don’t worry, we won’t tell your boss) .

1. THE HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY

Any respectable computer geek over 40 remembers the MUD, or Multi User Dungeon genre, in which players act out an adventure by simply talking to the game. The game talks back, you have a laugh-- it’s good fun for everyone. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a browser-based revival of this retro game style, complete with the trademark humor the book is known for. Grab your towel and try the game out here.

2. MINI METRO

Mini Metro is mega fun for any aspiring city planner. Lay down your tracks, manage your routes, and get as many passengers in your cars as possible. The trick is that the city is constantly growing, and eventually your intricate subway network is going to grind to a halt. How long will you last?

3. POPPIT

Poppit is a simple, yet vibrant bejeweled clone-- and who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned matching game? The tried-and-true concept is the same here: line up balloons of the same colour, pop as many as you can, and collect power-ups to nab that high score. So grab your mouse and pop a few balloons. You needed a break from Candy Crush anyway.

4. LITTLE ALCHEMY

Little Alchemy is a game for the chemist in all of us. The premise is straightforward: start with a blank canvas and the four elements, and see what alchemical combinations you can come up with. Combine water with fire and you get steam. Combine steam with air and you make a cloud-- get the picture. ?ound fun? Mix it up here.

5. BATTLEFIELD PLAY4FREE

Oo-rah! Fan-favorite Battlefield has been gluing gamers to screens for years, and this free, browser-based spinoff does a decent job of capturing the tense action that earned the series its reputation. Since it’s a proper 3D shooter, it requires a video card and a chunk of your HDD. Ready? Lock, stock, and ship out!

6. SUPER HOUSE OF DEAD NINJAS

It’s no ordinary house. It’s a super house! With ninjas! That are dead! Cartoon Network’s older (and weirder) brother, Adult Swim, presents a 2D side-scrolling  game about-- you guessed it-- dead ninjas in a super house. If that’s your thing, get in on the action here.

7. QUAKE LIVE

Saving the best for last is never easy, unless it’s the granddaddy of arcade shooters. Quake is synonymous with fast, frantic, multiplayer action, and now the full experience is available right in your browser. Still got what it takes to be the Railgun Ruler? Find out here.
