Apple's New Desktop OS X "Yosemite" Is Here

The WorldWide Developer's Conference brought “Yosemite” – the new and improved desktop operating system for Macs. The new version is designed to work better with the the iPhone, and the superbly tweaked iOS 8 in particular, thanks to Apple CEO, Tim Cook’s vision of a more harmonious desktop-mobile relationship.

And they really do cooperate! Apple has introduced many features that make all your work available and accessible across several devices. One such feature is Handoff, which allows you to pick up your work on different devices. Handoff allows you to edit documents on your iPad and continue later on your iPhone. The related Airdrop feature lets you work between iOS and Yosemite, anytime. Talk about efficiency, huh?

With iMessage, all text messages from your iPhone will be synced with your other iDevices. When your phone is in range, messages can be read on your tablet and Mac as well as on your phone. In the same way, the iMessage can display incoming calls and identify callers. You can even pick up the phone – all on your Mac.

Yosemite takes OS sharing to a higher level. The iCloud Drive feature lets you sync files, documents, music, and other content across Yosemite, iOS, and Windows. Whichever app you use with iCloud Drive saves your information, allowing easy access to your work from other devices.

The Mail in Yosemite is also powered by the iCloud. Messages are encrypted and stored in the iCloud (storage is limited to 5 gigabytes), and a link is added so that the recipient can download the message as an attachment.

Yosemite's interface design is similar to that of the iOS 7, which is sometimes referred to as “flat.” The interface also shares iOS 7's colour scheme. So, if you're a fan of iOS 7, chances are you'll like Yosemite's visual layout.

Never miss an appointment again! Yosemite's Notification Center is now even more informative now. You can switch between your agenda, things to do daily, and notifications, all of which are neatly organized. You can even extend this feature and see both the notifications and your agenda simultaneously.
